About Dr. Nadia Thalji
Psychologist, Consultant International Speaker, Professor
About
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in California and the founder of Intercultural Psychology, a private practice based in the San Francisco Bay Area offering psychotherapy and consultation across California.
My work is grounded in depth psychology, psychodynamic theory, and integrative approaches that include Jungian, relational, and somatic perspectives. I specialize in supporting individuals and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, identity questions, and the complexities of living across cultures.
The heart of this work
At the heart of my work is a simple but profound question:
How do we become more fully ourselves in the midst of complexity, change, and belonging across worlds?
Many of the people I work with are living in between cultures, roles, or identities. Some are immigrants or children of immigrants. Others are professionals navigating high achievement alongside emotional exhaustion or a quiet sense of disconnection.
Often, there is nothing “wrong” in an obvious sense—yet something essential feels out of alignment, difficult to name but deeply felt.
How I work
I work closely and collaboratively with clients to create a space where inner experience can be explored with depth, safety, and curiosity.
Together, we pay attention not only to symptoms or patterns, but also to meaning—how personal history, relationships, culture, and unconscious processes shape the way we experience ourselves and the world.
My approach is relational and depth-oriented. I draw from Jungian and psychodynamic traditions, while also integrating somatic awareness, mindfulness, and culturally responsive frameworks. This allows us to engage both the emotional and symbolic dimensions of experience.
What brings people to this work
People often come to me during periods of transition or internal strain, such as:
anxiety, overwhelm, or burnout
trauma or unresolved relational experiences
questions of identity, belonging, or life direction
the experience of living between cultures or worlds
a desire for deeper meaning or inner coherence
Many clients describe a sense of “holding it together” externally while feeling internally fragmented, exhausted, or uncertain.
Therapy becomes a place where this inner experience can be met with steadiness and attention, rather than urgency or judgment.
Credentials & Expertise
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in California and the founder of Intercultural Psychology, a private practice based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My clinical training is rooted in depth psychology, including psychodynamic and Jungian approaches, and integrates relational, somatic, and culturally responsive frameworks.
I specialize in working with anxiety, trauma, burnout, and identity-related concerns, with particular focus on individuals navigating multicultural and transitional life experiences.
Over the years, I have worked with individuals and couples navigating emotional distress, cultural transition, and questions of meaning and belonging. My clinical focus includes supporting people living across cultures, roles, and internal worlds—especially during periods of change or psychological reorganization.
My perspective
My clinical perspective is shaped by an ongoing interest in how identity is formed through culture, migration, relationships, and lived experience.
I am especially drawn to the ways people create meaning in liminal or in-between spaces—where old frameworks no longer fully fit, and something new is emerging.
I see therapy as a process of listening deeply—not only to what is spoken, but also to what is forming beneath the surface of awareness.
A bit about me
I bring both clinical training and lived engagement with cross-cultural experience into my work. These experiences inform my sensitivity to questions of identity, transition, and belonging.
Outside of my clinical practice, I am engaged in teaching, writing, and ongoing study in depth psychology and related fields.
An Invitation
I believe that healing is not only about reducing distress, but also about recovering access to what feels meaningful, alive, and true within us.
If you are in a period of transition, questioning, or inner strain, therapy can offer a space to slow down, listen inwardly, and make sense of what is emerging.
Healing across cultures through therapy, education, and connection.
